Course Objectives

To provide supplemental hands-on training to complement kit insert instructions.

Course Design

  • Presentation on food allergens, regulatory status and risk assessment, sampling, and testing technique.
  • Facility walkthrough assessing laboratory and equipment conditions, kit storage, sample preparation, retention library, high risk areas.
  • Demonstration of proper pipeting technique and reader usage, software installation and setup of reader and water bath.
  • One-on-one coaching and hands-on performance of a single assay (criteria for certification will be an acceptable correlation coefficient). User is allowed to repeat assay if failures are observed. Environmental swab or available ingredient will be used as mock sample.
  • Proper care of equipment.
  • Troubleshooting failures

Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to successfully and independently perform Neogen’s allergen assays.

Prerequisites / Proficiency Level

While no specific experience is required, it is highly recommended that participants be familiar with standard Good Laboratory Practices and ELISA techniques. All trainees must be available at the time of training. It is the responsibility of the local management to schedule 2nd and 3rd shift employees for availability.

Suggested duration up to 4 hours, based on attendee number. Add 2 hours for each additional 4 trainees. Kits and equipment for training must be on site and IT must provide any administrative rights needed for software installation.
