Choosing the Right Water Sample Containers

Neogen provides easy-to-use sample containers designed to help collect water samples correctly and confidently. Our sample containers are available with sodium thiosulfate and without sodium thiosulfate. If the water sample contains chlorine, use a container with sodium thiosulfate to neutralize the chlorine.

Quantitative Water Testing Tools for Coliforms & E. coli Enumeration

Colitag works with the Neogen MPNTray to deliver quantitative MPN results, providing organism counts (MPN/100 mL) essential for compliance monitoring, trend analysis, and assessing changes in water quality.

Our MPNTray is designed for reliable MPN enumeration and offers the flexibility to perform Presence/ Absence (P/A) water testing when needed. It is also compatible with sealers intended for 97-well trays.

Colitag Controls for Confident Results

Neogen provides an easy-to-use Comparator to determine results and the Colitag™ QC Testing Kit to help verify Colitag results and keep water microbiology testing consistent and reliable.

The Colitag Comparator is a visual reference to help users confidently interpret testing results. If a sample is equal to or more yellow than the Comparator, it is positive for total coliforms. If the sample produces fluorescence equal to or greater than the Comparator, it is positive for E. coli.

The Colitag QC Testing Kit includes three defined control organisms — E. coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Each organism produces a specific expected result, allowing laboratories to confirm accurate detection of total coliforms, E. coli, and appropriate negative controls within their workflow.
